The “Summer School” Continues: Students and Professors from Chernivtsi and Kraków Held an Online Meeting

On 18 November 2025, a group of students from Yuriy Fedkovych National University of Chernivtsi met online with representatives of the Ignatianum University in Kraków. From the Chernivtsi university, the meeting was attended by students of the “international relations” programme together with the head of the Department of International Relations and Social Communication, Prof. Vitalii Makar, and Prof. Władysław Strutyński.

On the Ignatianum side, those present in front of their computer screens included: the university’s Rector, Rev. Prof. Tomasz Homa SJ, Rev. Krzysztof Homa SJ, Dr. Krystyna Potapenko, Rev. Dr. Krzysztof Biel SJ (responsible for international relations at the university), and Rev. Dr. Jarosław Charchuła SJ. Rev. Charchuła and Dr. Potapenko were co-organizers of the Summer School that took place in June 2025 at the “Space of Hope” in Chernivtsi.

The purpose of the current online meeting was precisely to prepare the visit of the student group from Chernivtsi within the framework of the “Summer School”. As planned from the beginning, the group of students who took part in the June activities will come to Kraków. However, before this visit takes place, each student had the task of preparing a short essay about one of the important places on the map of Poland. Wawel, St. Mary’s Basilica in Kraków, the Kraków Market Square, as well as places related to Gdańsk — including the Solidarity Center — were mentioned frequently.

During the online meeting, students were also able to propose their own ideas regarding the time planned in Kraków. Thus, the entire meeting served both to prepare for the visit scheduled for April 2026 and to learn about the students’ own ideas and plans. So — see you in Kraków. Meanwhile, in June 2026, the next edition of the Summer School will begin at the “Space of Hope”.

The fruitful cooperation between the University of Chernivtsi, the “Space of Hope”, and the Ignatianum University in Kraków is truly encouraging. In these difficult times of war and instability, we strive to build connections and cooperate for the exchange of experience and mutual understanding.
