Clinical Consequences of Trauma – Webinar for Psychologists

On July 22, 2025, the “Space of Hope” center, in cooperation with Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and the “Heart to Heart Children’s Foundation,” organized a webinar for psychologists.
The topic of the webinar was “Clinical Consequences of Trauma”, and it was led by Professor Igor Pietkiewicz — Head of the Center for Research on Trauma and Dissociation, operating within the structure of the Institute of Psychology at the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow.
The webinar brought together about 180 participants from all over Ukraine, who had the opportunity to follow the lecture devoted to this important subject. The event was simultaneously interpreted.

What happens to the psyche when it is unable to “digest” experiences? How do childhood traumas affect our adult life, body, behavior, and even identity?

During the webinar, we discussed:

  • relational trauma and attachment trauma
  • clinical consequences of emotional neglect in childhood
  • structural dissociation of personality: how the psyche fragments as a result of trauma
  • symptoms that are difficult to recognize
  • why patients often remain undiagnosed — and how to change that.

We are grateful for this profound meeting, which was not only about science — it was about the human being. In a Ukrainian society experiencing the collective trauma of war, knowledge is the first step toward healing.
